Ekaterina Sknarina -
Former Miss Coney Island!
A model, actress, contortionist, aerial artist and former international gymnast. Ekat was born in Russia and competed at the world championship level for the Russian rhythmic gymnastics team. She later trained as an aerial artist with Cirque du Soleil. After re-locating to New York she began working as a contortionist in the burgeoning new burlesque scene. Ekat added the role of target girl to her portfolio after meeting knife thrower The Great Throwdini. In 2005 she was one of the stars of the off-Broadway show Maximum Risk, during which she helped set two world records for the number of knives thrown around a human target in one minute. She also appears in the movie Across the Universe (2007). Ekat will be performing her snow globe act as well as a burlesque act later in the evening.
Haas Kowert & Tice -
There’s a lightness and joy to the music of American roots trio Haas Kowert Tice, a sense of weightlessness that belies the complexity of the musical arrangements. This is music that uplifts, that soars, but that is also grounded by a respect and love for tradition. With just three acoustic instruments–fiddle, guitar, upright bass–Haas Kowert Tice are building a new kind of roots music.
Made up of three of the most exciting instrumentalists on the scene today, this trio of fiddler Brittany Haas (Crooked Still, Dave Rawlings Machine), bassist Paul Kowert (Punch Brothers, Dave Rawlings Machine), and guitarist Jordan Tice (Tony Trischka) use their roots to engage in close dialogue. Entirely instrumental, this is wordless communication at its best.
Grant Gordy & Joe K. Walsh-
Grant spent six years in the David Grisman Quintet/Sextet following in the giant footsteps of Tony Rice, John Carlini, Mike Marshall & Mark O’Connor. Gordy has dedicated himself to honing his technique and developing an original voice that effortlessly and convincingly merges seemingly unrelated genres of music.
Joe K. Walsh is hailed by legendary fiddler Darol Anger called “one of my favorite musicians on earth,” and by CBC-Newfoundland as “one of the best mandolinists of his generation”. Both Joe & Grant tour the country and world with Mr Sun, an adventurous string-band featuring also Darol Anger, and Ethan Jodziewicz.
Muddy Ruckus-
Muddy Ruckus' music is a blend of subterranean grooves, punk-folk and electric suitcase rock. A nationally touring americana-rock duo from Portland, Maine. Featuring guitarist Ryan Flaherty and percussionist Erika Stahl. The band seasons their music with the salt of the eastern old ports and the mud of the Mississippi River where Flaherty grew up, creating an epic blend of bluesy folk rock, foot stomping rhythms and haunting vocal melodies. The New York Music Daily calls Muddy Ruckus "Darkly Inventive Americana". In April 2016, Muddy Ruckus was dubbed "Best in State of Maine" by the New England Music Awards.
Droplet Dance-
A company with performances integrating dance, theater, acrobatics, and weaves story and song into colorful threads that connect every heart and bring about awareness of water in our world. Molly Gawler will be on cyr wheel and joined by Lissa Schneckenberger of Childs Play on fiddle.
